Fulham Vs. Chelsea

Sunday 23rd August 2009

Bwight summer sunshine and off we twotted over Putney Bwidge for what turned our to be another game of “park the bus,” this time against Woy and his pwawn sandwich bwigade. You’ll have to forgive me for a sketchy recollection of what twanspired (last one I promise) as following a pretty shocking allocation at Sunderland we could fortunately rebel due to some empty seats, the Away Season Ticket holders were again so far back in the stand that it was a little hard to make out what was going on.

There were changes to the team that had played so well on our trip to Sunderland. Deco dropped back to the bench with Kalou whilst Anelka and Lamps supported Drogs up front playing the same formation. Malouda played deeper in midfield with Ballack and Mikel as Essien was rotated out. Likewise Ricky’s finesse was opted for over Ivanovic’s brutal presence as we kicked off.

As with the past two matches it was all Chelsea from the beginning, with Cech not needing to make a save and all of the action was at the other end. Despite this though we found it hard to get any clear cut chances on goal, and as it was it took 38 minutes to break the deadlock. Drogba converted an Anelka pass low into the net and we went into half time ahead.

After the break it was evident that Fulham hadn’t given up, bringing on Kamara and reshaping their midfield by pulling Dempsey back. They soon began to tire however and it became apparent that they were not up to the task. Lampard dragged one wide as our opportunities multiplied and on 76 minutes when Drogba set up Anelka we had our second. There were chances for another but none came to pass before word went through the crowd that England had won the ashes. Had the Fulham fans had any vocal ability I’m sure they would have sung allong with the national anthem and the celebrations - all of which were witnessed by our latest Hollywood “clinger-on” Adam Sandler.

Twat of the day:

Multiple contenders…

TFL: For persisting with a closure of the District Line on the day when there was a West London derby scheduled. Added to this the no. 93 bus. Every 6-10 minutes my arse. 45 minutes we stood on Putney Bridge waiting to get out there while 5 of everything else went past…

Mong-like hotdog seller: I’ve never seen a kid move so slow in my life. If I had introduced another vendor, bound his arms to his body, blindfolded him and then hacked off his feet so that he could do nothing but bounce backwards and forwards on bloody little stumps, they still would have managed to locate two bottles of diet coke faster than the idiot they had employed.

Andy Gray: (Methinks this might be the start of several appearances) Because apparently Fulham were the better team in the first half. Dickhead.

Bod at Chelsea in charge of allocating the Away Season Ticket holders. Boooooooooooooooooooo. Whoever you are.
