Sunderland vs.Chelsea: Match Preview

By Fitz on 17-Aug-2009 at 20:56:52

Sunderland vs Chelsea, Tuesday 18th, 19:45pm

Going into the match vs Sunderland tomorrow night we have no new injury issues.

Yuri Zhirkov continues to be sidelined for a vague amount of time, with Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira remaining longer-term injury doubts.

Michael Mancienne's loan to Wolves (season-long) was confirmed prior to the weekends opening matches, meaning save higher profile transfers out, and in we hope, the squad will stay roughly as it is.

The stand-out performers vs Hull are headed inevitably by Didier Drogba. The Ivorian showed his best and his worst, but goals mean results and Dider delivered once again. A shocker for many Chelsea fans was Deco's impact on the match - it seems the diminutive Portuguese prefers the summer months in England and could be a decent bet to re-create some of his early season form from last year.

Lampard, on the other hand, had a mare by his standards. You wouldn't bet against Frank turning things round sharply against Sunderland, the same being the case with Anelka - who so spectacularly secured his Golden Boot in this match last season.

Likely starting lineup: Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, Carvalho, A.Cole, Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Malouda, Anelka, Drogba.

Bluetinted Picks: Lampard, Deco (as a sub) and Anelka.
