Lampard: Gallas is a liar.

The player I have an almost unhealthy regard for has once again spoken of his pride and appreciation for Chelsea’s supporters in his time at the club, contradicting the ridiculous claims of one Wally Gallas upon signing for Arsenal…

The Frenchman moved to football's very oldest franchise as part of the £5mill + player deal to land Ashley Cole in 2006, and upon doing so after a somewhat acrimonious departure stated that Arsenal’s fans were “the best in the world” and that he could not wait to link up with them and his best buddy Thierry Henry.

That summer Thierry left the club. Unlucky, William.

In the seasons that followed Gallas has seen his captaincy revoked, his team-mates let him down and shun him, his manager continue to pursue his myopic delusions and, worst of all, the much vaunted best fans in the world terrorising the hard working Emmanuel Eboue amongst many others in their own colours.

In defence of Arsenals supporters it does appear only the ones who do not fanatically turn up for every match in fancy dress costumed as red chairs who boo. So let’s not level it at the entirety of their sell out crowds..

Anyway! Back to Frank!

In preparation for the World Cup, having only just got rid of the ringing in his ears caused by such close proximity to Carlo Ancelotti’s “Baaa Ba Ba Ba Booo Bo!” song on Chelsea’s parade bus, and having finally prised himself aware from his comely new girlfriend, Frank stated:

"I've never heard them (the Chelsea fans) get right on someone's back, boo them and destroy them. Never," explained Lampard.

"Don't get me wrong, they can moan and groan a little bit but that's normal. We all get upset watching games.

"But they are always there, they travel fantastically well and the main thing is that they don't get on anyone's back.

"Some clubs (Arsenal), given what we've been given and being elevated to where we are now, would be moaning and thinking: 'We should be winning' after 20 minutes at 0-0.

"But Chelsea fans are a little bit different. Probably because they've been through a lot before I was here, where they've sat down and watched a Division Two team in a stand that was 30 yards away from the pitch.

"So now they can't believe what's happening here. They go with it and, like me, they think it's fantastic."

There’s probably an important point to make here. As fans we all have a bit of a grumble not only about the performance of the team on the pitch, but also about the performance of our fellow supporters. One thing that can never be questioned is the dedication and volume of our away section. Absolutely fantastic.

Home crowds? The atmosphere created at times this season has been phenomenal, and indicative of just what Stamford Bridge can be like when everyone pulls together.

Frank and the players hear you and feed off you, so it doesn’t matter if the bloke next to you is Chinese, a competition winner or even Scottish – they are Chelsea supporters for that moment and are unquestioningly your equal. If they’re not making enough noise, drag them up with you!

And Frank? Cheers fella. You’re alright yourself..*blushes*

(Disclaimer: Lampard has at no point actually said Gallas is a liar!)
