Stamford Bridge Naming Rights For Sale!

By Doctor Gonzo on 05-Nov-2009 at 17:46:28

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has revealed that the cash-strapped club would consider selling the naming rights for their stadium Stamford Bridge.

Following in the footsteps of Arsenal and Newcastle United, and keen to replicate the positive PR generated by the popular decision to play at "SportsDirect @ StJamesPark", Chelsea have decided to consider a similarly lucrative and beneficial move.

Early indications are that the fans' response is set to be unanimously positive. One representative spoke strongly in support of the initiative, going on to highlight how Chelsea's connection to its history is one of the strongest and most respected in English Football, so the board can afford to make decisions which might appear to be, on the surface, scandalously meretricious.

Another fans' spokesperson, however, said, "bugger off, that's a ridiculous idea, how did you get my number?" And then when pressed, "I'm calling the filth."

Current suggestions being considered are "The McDome @ Stamford Bridge", "The O2 Academy @ Fulham Broadway" and "KFC @ The Bridge," the latter apparently having the support of a "high profile" supporter.

Competition time!

The funniest made up name sent to info@bluetinted.co.uk wins a well done and sod all else.
